Looking towards New Street with the up platform on the right being raised higher with timber sleepers. The presence of the old LNWR signal cabin indicates that the electrification of the line has yet to happen. When the new signal cabin on the down side has been commissioned the LNWR cabin will be demolished to make way for the new up platform. As the new electrified rolling stock has a much higher floor, the up platform's surface was too low and therefore needed to be raised temporarily.
