The replacement signal box at Tile Hill which came into operation when the line was upgraded for electrification

The replacement signal box at Tile Hill which came into operation when the line was upgraded for electrification. Whilst the photograph was taken just outside the date line of 1968 it differs very little from how it looked in 1964. The new signal box is located on the site of the old cattle dock and whilst the gates were still operated manually by turning the wheel, the road was controlled by traffic lights. All of the original buildings were replaced as a result of electrification and the up platform was relocated opposite the down platform. The goods yard was replaced by a car park for commuters. By the turn of the century all of the above had changed with an roadbridge being constructed where the signal box is sited.
