Close up of image 'lnwrvd1486' showing the station's re-built booking office located above the up slow and down fast lines. The design adopted for the station reflected the railway's need to provide a 'no frills' service. The new station building accommodating the station master's office, booking hall and toilets was erected with 9 inch brick walls, steel framed windows and a felted flat roof, the latter probably being made with concrete. The two sets of staircases are built with brick walls with concrete treads and risers and metal hand rails. The original nine inch stub wall on which the rear timber wall of the 1869 station building was constructed can clearly be seen.
