Looking towards Aston from the Curzon Street end of the island platform serving the fast lines on 14th September 1956. On the right are a mixture of wagons stabled on a siding running adjacent to the wagon repair workshops. In the centre of the right hand island platform is a timber framed and clad structure its origin and use being unknown. Note the two styles of station lampposts. Whilst both appear to be still lit by gas, the lampposts on the left are much older than those seen on the right.
