Ex-LNWR 1P 2-4-2T No 46712 is seen on 17th July 1954 standing in Milverton shed's coal hole a matter of days before its withdrawal. The state of the smokebox and steam escaping from the front end shows that the locomotive was in a poor state of repair. Like many locomotives built at the end of the 19th century the out break of the Second World War extended No 46712's working life as production of new locomotives gave way to the need to build equipment for the war. Built at Crewe in February 1895 it lasted in service until withdrawn from Milverton shed in August 1954 and was scrapped shortly afterwards.
