Looking towards New Street station with the line from Perry Barr entering on the left as an unidentified ex-LMS 4-6-0 proceeds towards Wolverhampton on 9th July 1956. The carriages seen on the right are standing on what the LMS described as a loop line in one document whilst another, a signalling diagram, described it as a through siding. The sidings on the right were still in existence in 2011 and are used to stable carriage sets.
