Close up of ‘mr_lif494’ showing the proximity of Lifford station's goods yard to the up platform and the three separate platform structures. The up platform accommodation was, unlike its counterpart opposite, separate buildings with each of a similar size. The reason why three small units were built and not one larger unit is unknown - they are of a similar age as shown by their architectural features. In all probability they are a mixture of First class, Ladies and General waiting rooms because when the third station was built in 1885 it was still MR practice to offer separate waiting rooms at even small stations so on this basis each could have its own separate building. On the left the railings appear to show that there are steps going down, Its not known if this was an underpass to the platform opposite an exit/entrance or both although Lifford Lane was at the opposite end of the station.
