LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Alcester Station: mra1293
Ex-MR 4-4-0 2P No 512 passes through Alcester station with
the 1:20pm New Street to Ashchurch service on Saturday 18th September 1948. The
train will call at Evesham and is made up of five LMS corridor coaches which
was typical of the through trains to Ashchurch in the 1930s and 1940s. A member
of the Midland Railway's 483 Class, No 512 was built by Sharp Stewart &
Company in November 1899 and was to remain in service for just over a year
being withdrawn from 21A Saltley shed in January 1950 to be cut up by Derby
works. Although assigned by British Railways the number 40512 it was never
affixed.
