LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

This close up of image 'mra463' shows the original signal box shortly before it was replaced by a new signal box located on the end of the down platform on 17th December 1905. The reason for replacing this signal box with another relatively near has been lost in the mists of time but bearing in mind the cost and the frugality of the MR there must have been a very good reason. One thought is that the replacement box might have had a better view down the line to Evesham but with the block system in operation its hard to ascertain any advantages.
