LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

The signalman stretches up to the fireman as they exchange the single line staff in this view taken from a Birmingham bound train circa 1950s. The signalman did not have so much bother in exchanging the staff with trains travelling in the opposite direction as a stand was provided to the left of the steps to the signal box. In front of the steps is a gas lit lamppost, coal and ash bunker as well as a corrugated iron lamp hut.
