Diesel locomotive D215 'Aquitinia' is seen leaving the western end of Arley Tunnel on a diverted express service on Sunday 3rd July 1966. The train is the diverted 09:45am Euston to Birmingham express, the diversion being because of electrification work on the Rugby to Birmingham section of its normal route. The ridge seen half-way up the cutting is where the original tunnel has been opened up by the removal of the soil on top.
