The Engine Repair Card for ex-MR 2P 4-4-0 No 40439 which showed that it had was fully written off in 1933 some twenty-eight years before it was finally scrapped. Built as MR No 439 by Sharp Stewart in March 1893 at a cost of £2,107 plus another £572 for the tender, the locomotive remained in service until January 1961 when it was withdrawn from 18A Toton to be scrapped.
