A view of the home signal controlling the northern exit of the Lifford branch, taken in 1956. The line joining from the left is only a siding, the main line itself being out of sight, though a down signal on it can be seen. The building in the background is Bournville shed. It's probably a warm day, as the windows are nearly all open. The signal is a Midland Railway lower quadrant design. The distinctive finial on top of the post is to protect the wooden post.
