LMS Route: Birmingham West Suburban Railway
Bournville Shed: mrb1532
A view of ex-MR 2P 4-4-0 No 40537, paired with a Fowler
tender, in the roundhouse on Thursday 31st July 1958, taken by D. Skevington.
At the time this was a Bournville engine, but it was soon to be reallocated to
Bristol, by then coded 82E, after that depot's transfer to the western region
of BR. It was one of the last of its class to survive, being withdrawn in
September 1962. Bournville received ex-LMS 2P 4-4-0 No 40568 in exchange, but
to the best of my knowledge that engine went straight into store in a
siding.
