LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Barnt Green: mrbg618
This Edwardian view of the original up platform shows the track
layout to the north of the junction. On the left is a station sign declaring
'Barnt Green junction for Redditch and Evesham' in white lettering on an
ultramarine blue background. The fencing is not the standard MR slopping
pattern nor is the same as the iron railings adopted for the 1894 Redditch down
platform suggesting it dates from the Gloucester & Birmingham Railway
period. On the right, on the down side of the main line, are two sidings with
one providing access to the freshly painted cattle dock. The platform, signal
box and waiting room on the left were all swept away by the quadrupling of the
tracks in 1930.
