LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Broom Junction Station: mrbj152
A 1950s view of the platform facing Redditch showing the
ex-L&YR coach now re-clad with T&G boarding due to its poor external
condition. The station name board is the third variation of sign used at the
station since it opened some seventy-five years earlier. The once busy yard is
now a pale shadow of itself due to a loss of traffic resulting from both the
opening of the 1942 southern connection and the competition from the increase
in road transport. Whereas the station staff once took pride in their station
and planted floral displays, the station now looks unloved and very
forlorn.
