LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Broom Junction Station: mrbj157
View of Broom Junction station showing the second version of
station's name board which read' Broom Junction for Stratford Line circa 1930s.
The nameboard is constructed from timber but this time in lieu of the angled
two-faced board has just the one face with the name board erected at an angle
towards the direction of incoming traffic. The sheaves of corn, seen on the
left, are an old fashioned method of harvesting which allowed the corn to dry
after being cut. The covered vans in the background are a reminder of the
importance the route once had for the London freights and Banana specials.
