LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham & the SMJ Railway

Broom Junction Station: mrbj1954

Ex-LMS 4P 2-6-4T No 42340 departs from Broom Junction station 'bunker first' to Evesham on 14th May 1960. At the time of the photograph, No 42340 was allocated to 21A Saltley shed before moving on to 8E Northwich in August 1960, having previously been allocated to 21B Bourneville shed from July 1955 to July 1958. Built by Derby works in April 1929, No 42340 was to remain in service until June 1962 when it was withdrawn from 12E Barrow in Furness to be scrapped.
