LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton
Castle Bromwich Station: mrcb34
The exterior of Castle Bromwich station which fronted on to
Chester Road is all decked out with bunting in 1955. The building was a
substantial two-storey affair with the ground floor being offices and stores
fronting on to Castle Bromwich's goods yard (see image 'mrcb1030'). The main office facilities were based in
this building although facilities for passengers were available in the two
platforms. There are two station name boards, the one in the centre above the
fascia is a British Railway's enamel sign which was not erected much before
1953-4. The sign on the right-hand corner of the building adjacent to the wall
is an LMS sign made of timber.
