Camp Hill Station: mrch359
An Edwardian view of Camp Hill Station looking towards Brighton
Road with the down platform on the left. This view shows how the up platform
(all lines to Derby on the MR were classified as up) was narrowed where the
platform crossed Highgate Road. The slope of the platform led to the porters
barrow crossing for passengers and luggage to reach the down platform. This
unusual feature was installed because the platform behind the photographer
ceased abruptly due to the existence of the bridge over Montpellier Street
preventing the installation of the barrow crossing at the end of the
platform.
