Looking towards Birmingham showing the two water cranes located
on either side of the bridge over Montpellier Street during July 1906. This
view shows that the up platform had a very acute dip created in the platform as
a method of assisting passengers and staff to cross to the down platform. The
down platform started at this point so was constructed with standard
configuration of having a ramp at either end. Note the earlier style of MR gas
lamp suspended from the wall on the left and the later model fixed to a
lamppost at the end of the up platform. On the platform on the left is a large
milk churn which would be placed in to the guards van for transporting to its
home station.
