LMS Route: Birmingham West Suburban Railway

Ex-LMS 2-6-4T 4MT No 42326 passes by Church Road Junction signal box with an empty stock working circa 1953. The branch to Central Goods is on the right and would start to climb from this point onwards. Behind the photographer was the now abandoned Church Road station whilst to the right on the other side of the tall wall is the Worcester & Birmingham Canal. Built by Derby works in February 1929 No 42326 remained in service until July 1960 when it was withdrawn from 9G Gorton shed.
