View of the up home signals and Church Road Junction signal box viewed from the Birmingham end of the down platform on 31st May 1955. This is the second signal box located at Church Road Junction and was opened on 18th March 1923 and closed on 7th September 1969 with the opening of Saltley Power Signal Box. The first signal box was opened on 12th March 1887 and was sited on the up line some 130 yards nearer towards Five Ways station. The bracket signals control from left to right, left upper arm for New Street station, left lower arm for 'calling on' and the right-hand arm for the branch to Central Goods. Finally, it should be noted that both the up and down tracks have been relaid using flat bottom rails.
