LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton LMS Route:
Birmingham New Street to Tamworth
Duddeston Road: mrdr1013
Looking north towards Saltley station with the old signal
box on the right on Sunday 20th March 1955. Bob Essery writes in Part Two of
Pictorial Survey of Railways in the West Midlands 'the sidings at
Duddeston to the left were largely used for incoming coal traffic for the
gasworks and for loaded coke wagons or empties going out. These would be taken
to Washwood Heath up sidings to be marshalled into trains that would be worked
to collieries as required. Being a Sunday there are no westbound trains
standing either on the down Camp Hill line or the Second down goods line
waiting for the 'road' to be given.
