LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Evesham Station: mre1335
Looking south towards Ashchurch with the goods yard and siding
on the left and the main station building on the right circa 1962. This view
shows the top of the signal post with the platform provided for the maintenance
of the signal. The most common requirement being the removal of the oil lamp,
which lit the signal's coloured lenses at night, in order to trim the wick and
top up the oil. It was a requirement that the lamp be brought down to carry out
this work but inevitably it was carried out in-situ by the responsible member
of staff in order to speed up the work.
