LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

One of the six experimental fruit vans specifically for Evesham traffic ordered by the LMS in 1945. Branded 'Experimental Fruit Van Return to Evesham', it was an attempt by the LMS to maximise the carrying capacity of a 12 ton rated vehicle when handling fruit and vegetables. As can be seen by the above photograph, it was difficult to load the wagon to occupy all the space and as the intended goods being transported were also in the main light in nature, it was a challenge to maximise the revenue which could be generated by this traffic.
