LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

MR 1P Johnson 0-4-4T No 1353 was a Gloucester engine at the time of this photograph, 18th September 1948, and is seen having just worked a Ashchurch to Evesham goods train. Although a wheel arrangement more associated with passenger work this class was associated with freight train work on the southern end of line. Built by Dubbs & Co to order 2849 in May 1892 No 1353 only briefly wore its allocated BR running number, No 58059, before being withdrawn from Bedford shed in September 1950 for scrapping by Derby works circa 1950.
