View of Coleshill Signal Box with Hams Hall CEGB sidings signal in the foreground on 3rd August 1969. The Signal Box was commissioned by the LMS on 3rd December 1939. It's not really a true shunting signal, but a stop shunting signal. It just gave an indication to the staff in the CEGB sidings that a train had been signalled into the sidings from the main line. When the crossbar was end on (showing a green light) then shunting operations were okay to continue, when the arm was visible (red light) shunting operations must cease.
