Close up of image 'mrforg1870' showing the station's simple goods yard which consisted of a refuge siding giving access to a single siding. As can be seen, the refuge siding runs parallel with, and between, the up line and the siding on which two wagons are stabled. The refuge siding has a small headshunt, usually a safety measure to prevent runaway wagons entering the main running line. However, in this instance it would appear that this section of siding is also being used to off-load wagons via the hand-operated crane seen to its right. The goods yard remained open until 6th July 1964 when it was closed.
