LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Hazelwell Station: mrhaz831
Looking towards Lifford from the Camp Hill end of Hazelwell
Station's up platform on 19th August 1929. Whilst reasonably tidy the station
has signs that it is not used overly much in the inter war years. On the up
platform there is evidence of grass growing on the surface. After the First
World War, stations near to Birmingham City centre found it increasingly
difficult to compete against public transport. Trams were more frequent, faster
and cheaper whilst the introduction of buses meant the introduction of multiple
routes without the need to provide any further infrastructure - rails and
overhead electricity.
