Kingsbury Station: mrk1803
Kingsbury Station in a much run down condition which
warranted its demolition prior to passenger services being withdrawn. The top
of each gable roof shows signs of rot and ad-hoc repair which is not surprising
considering this photograph was taken on 14th April 1962 some one hundred and
twenty-three years since it was built. Despite Mr Wickman's surprise it was
common for rural stations like Kingsbury to be still lit by oil lamps in the
1960s and, like Kingsbury, would be to the day they closed.
