Kings Heath Station: mrkh725a

Close up of image 'mrkh725' showing Kings Heath station, the short siding on the left and the 1882 signal box with its shallower windows and higher sill. The sharp dip in the platform was a feature seen elsewhere on the line (see 'mrch394' ) and was replaced when the platform seen between the signal box and the short siding was removed. This feature was normally associated with a timber barrow crossing enabling porters to cross the line with parcels trucks etc although in this view no such crossing can be seen.
