LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Kings Heath Station: mrkh729a
Close up showing the MR local passenger train departing the
station whilst coal wagons are being unloaded in the short siding opposite. On
the right is one of the many milk churns that was an every day feature of
railway stations, both large and small, urban or rural. Milk was for many years
transported between the farms outside of the towns of Britain and the shops and
dairies in the cities and towns. Parliament had fixed the cost of transporting
goods by rail so the cost of moving milk by rail was economical to the benefit
of the consumer, farmer and merchant.
