Ex-LMS 4F 0-6-0 No 44406 blows off as it departs from Kings Norton on a cloudless Spring day circa 1959-60. The locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company in January 1927 and was allocated to 21A Saltley shed. It is working a local passenger service from probably Redditch to New Street station. When the photograph was taken from the now disused island platform, No 44406 only had a few months left in service being withdrawn from Saltley shed in March 1960.
