Kings Norton Station: mrkn525
Looking towards Northfield with the goods yard and signal
box in the distance under Station Road footbridge on 17th February 1957. The
rebuilding of the station in saw the main station buildings and the down
platform retained whilst the original up platform was swept away. When opened
on 14th March 126 Kings Norton was the start of the quadrupled section of line
running through to Barnt Green and in addition the terminus of many trains from
New Street via the West Suburban Railway. Consequently the station's platforms
were configured so that Camp Hill trains used the platforms on the left and
West Suburban trains used the platforms on the right. The two new structure on
the island platform and the slow up (extreme right) platform have modesty walls
built in front protecting the entrance to the gentlemens toilets.
