View of Kings Norton signal box with the snow having been cleared from the point rodding under the track. This photograph shows the amount of work required to keep the railways moving when snow fell. Not only has the snow been cleared where rodding or wires travel underneath the running rails but each point has had to have the snow removed at the start of each turnout. The use of electric heaters which heated the rail to melt the snow did help to reduce the manpower required but it was still a major task to undertake each winter.
