A pair of MR 2P 4-4-0s, Nos 397 and 523 accelerate an eight coach express away from Kings Norton on 7th August 1936. Built by Derby works in June 1891 No 397 was a member of the MR's 1808 class and remained in service until March 1951 when it was withdrawn from Brunswick shed in Liverpool. Built just seven years later by Derby works in June 1898, No 523 was a member of the MR's 483 class and remained in service until November 1952 when it was withdrawn from Barnwood shed, Gloucester.
