LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

Kings Norton Locomotives: mrknlms230

A pair of ex-MR 4-4-0s 483 class locomotives, No 542 and No 402, work an excursion south of Kings Norton in 1937. Built at Derby works in October 1899 No 542 remained in service until it was withdrawn from Nottingham shed in August 1959 to be scrapped by TW Ward of Killamarsh in January 1960. Class mate No 402 was also built at Derby works but much earlier, in August 1891, and lasted a few months longer being withdrawn from Leicester shed in September 1960 to be scrapped at Gorton works in October 1960.
