LMS Stanier 2-6-2T 3P No 92 is seen travelling at speed on a
seven coach local passenger service in 1937. These were the least successful
Stanier design because unfortunately Derby was allowed to design the internal
draughting of the cylinders and valves. Despite fitting larger boilers they
still had a reputation as being poor steamers. Built at Crewe works in May 1935
and despite the class' poor reputation, No 92 still survived until May 1961
when it was withdrawn from Leicester (GC) shed in May 1961.
