View from the Empties Metal Shed of the rear of Lawley Street Goods Warehouse and its new awning as seen on 25th September 1934. On the left of the building are two hoist towers which cantilevered outwards from the first floor upwards. A fixed crane was positioned on the second floor in order to raise or lower goods that were being stored on either of the two upper floors. The timber cladding to the three sides of hoist towers was to reduce the impact of the wind blowing into the building when goods were being moved.
