Close up of Lawley Street sidings as they sweep around to run parallel with the main Derby to Birmingham and the Camp Hill lines

Close up of image 'mrls425' showing Lawley Street sidings as they sweep around to run parallel with the main Derby to Birmingham and the Camp Hill lines. The location of the line is marked by the two sets of twin telegraph poles and the embankment behind. Whilst the sidings seen in the centre of the photograph would be a credit even on the main line, the track on the right next to the hut with the elliptical roof, is decidedly poor with straight sections and sharp angles clearly seen. The slow exposure required for photographs of this period always provided a dramatic view of the steam or smoke emitting from the locomotive as is the case for the engine hidden behind the Vans under the signal gantry. However the MR 0-6-0 locomotive hidden by the two wagons to the left of the lamp post in the centre of the photograph would delight any footplate inspector as emits very little smoke or steam.
