MR 4-4-0 2P No 512 with steam blowing off from its safety
valves passes at speed near Northfield on 1st Aug 1921. Built by Sharp Stewart
in November 1899, No 512 was another member of the Midland Railway's 483 class
regularly seen on the Birmingham to Bristol route. Lasting in service until
January 1950 No 512 was withdrawn from Saltley shed to be scrapped immediately
at Derby works. Although allocated the BR running number 40512 it was never
applied.
