LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton

Shaun Jasper, Relief Signalman, is seen working inside Abbey Junction signal box during one of the last shifts prior to its closure in February 1992. Opened by the LMS on 1st November 1925 the 54-lever signal box was stripped of all its internal fittings and boarded up. The box lay boarded up for a year before vandals set fire to it on Thursday 25th March 1993 which caused considerable damage resulting in its demolition by summer 1993.
