A post 1873 plan of the replacement station built on the Birmingham side of the Midland Road bridge

A post 1873 plan of the replacement station built on the Birmingham side of the Midland Road bridge. The goods yard, built mainly on the site of the 1864 station, has benefited by a major expansion in its facilities including: two goods sheds with one being equipped with two cranes the other being dedicated to the use by Alfred Conner; a weighbridge for both rail and road traffic; two carriage docks with one being located at the station; a cattle dock and a 42 foot turntable for terminating passenger, goods and assisting locomotives. Connor’s Shed served the cardboard box, jigsaw and packing business of Alfred Connor, a local employer.
