LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton
Nuneaton Abbey Street Station: mrna44
An external view of the former Midland Railway station at
Abbey Street Nuneaton in 1951. Access by road transport was via the station
drive which connected with Midland Road at the junction with Stanley Road.
Examination of the poster boards shows that the board above the bicycle is
headed Cheap Fares whilst the others carry the legend British
Railways. The van on the right appears to be a British Railways vehicle
most likely being used for parcels, etc. To its left are two different types of
porter's barrow and one trolley all of which would suggest that the parcels
office was located on the right.
