Close up image 'mrp334' showing LMS 4P 2-6-4T No 2337 running bunker first as it arrives at Penns station on a local New Street to Walsall service. The train was forming the 5:35pm train from New Street and has just passed beneath Penns Lane bridge. Built by Derby works in March 1929 No 2337 remained in service for nearly 34 years before being withdrawn in December 1963 from Edgeley shed in Stockport. Designed by Henry Fowler a total of 125 locomotives were built and numbered by the LMS from No 2300 to No 2424. When passed into British Railways ownership they were numbered from No 42300 to 42424. Whilst the LMS classified them 4P for passenger related work British Railways classified them to undertake mixed traffic by classifying them as 4MT. They were the genus for a family of ultimately more than 650 LMS and British Railways' Class 4 2-6-4T locomotives.
