LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton
Stockingford Station: mrs1084
Stockingford station seen after its March 1968 closure and
now displaying a 'To Let' sign. Whilst the station building has not altered the
only fixings left on the station are the fire buckets fixed to the side of the
Gentlemen's toilet. Most likely filled with sand they were supplied to help put
out the embers emitted from passing steam locomotives. With the final
withdrawal of steam locomotives in August 1968 this would no longer be a
preoccupation across the national network.
