Ex-MR 2F 0-6-0 No 22834, a Kirtley curved outside framed locomotive, is seen with its number crudely painted on the smokebox door. Bearing its new '21A' shed plate No 22834 stands in line ahead of an unidentified LMS 5MT 4-6-0 Black 5. Built as Midland Railway No 384 by the Vulcan Foundry in 1874, No 22834 remained in service until November 1947 when it was withdrawn from Saltley shed to be scrapped in March 1949 at Derby works.
