LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Tamworth

British Railways Type 4 Diesel locomotives D1660 'City of Truro' and D1730 are seen standing in front of No 3 roundhouse. Both locomotives are probably being serviced after working a West of England train into Birmingham prior to returning to their home sheds. D1660 was later renumbered under TOPs as 47076 and then again 47625 when it was upgraded to a class 47/4 specification. D1730 was built in April 1964 and initially allocated to Cardiff Canton shed and after being allocated to other sheds was based at Saltley for a short time in 1970.
