British Railways Type 4 Diesel locomotives D1643 and D1751 are seen standing at the rear of No 3 roundhouse. Built in December 1964 D1643 was delivered new to Cardiff Canton on 19th January 1965. In September 1973 D1643 received its TOPs number 47059, which itself was later changed on a number of occasions following upgrading to its specification; 47631 in November 1985; and 47765 in March 1994 which it still carries in preservation. Classmate D1751 was built in July 1964 being allocated to Swansea Landore on 14th July 1964. D1751 was allocated in February 1974 its TOPs number 47158 which was later changed reflecting its specification being upgraded. In December 1985 it was changed to 47634 and it was allocated 47753 but did not carry the number being scrapped in October 2004 by HNRC at EMR Kingsbury.
